Pastels; soft, soothing, usually seen in the form sugared almonds handed out at weddings. This year we’ve seen the pastel palette expand away from the typical baby pink and baby blue, to introduce a wide variety of beautiful shades into the high street. I for one love them, as I think they make me look a bit more feminine and delicate. I’ve made a few purchases, and want a few more.
Here are my two favourite latest Pastel Purchases:
In my wardrobe:
1) My Boxy Peach Polkadot Sheer Blouse: New Look, £12.99 I team this blouse with my black high-waisted supersoft skinny jeans (New look, £24.99) and a pair of sandals for evening drinks. The material is sheer and lightweight, and the boxy shirt cut just skims my frame rather than clinging to it, so it is perfect for keeping cool in the warm summer evenings. 2) My Minty Green Polkadot Sleeveless Sheer Top: New Look £12.99 This top is also a sheer material, lightweight and cool. I absolutely love the colour, it’s soft and delicate. Similarly to my previous shirt; it’s Polkadot, I really love Polkadot. As well as the colour, the detail on the back of this top is really cute, with two little bows down a small split from the nape of the neck. This top is beautiful in either daytime with blue denim shorts or even a pair of leggings, but I’ve also worn it for a meal in the evening with a pair of heels, smart jeans and my new Ted Baker Bag.
In my Shopping Bag Wishlist: ASOS PETITE Playsuit in Pastel Lace £55 on ASOS. I’m definitely looking to purchase this cute playsuit. 100% Cotton to keep cool you in the summer, the floral pattern is actually a cotton overlay and has an interesting cut away design on the back, but with enough material to allow you wear but not show the back of a strapless bra strap. This playsuit would look gorgeous teamed up with my cork wedges and a white shoulder bag for a lovely lunch out in the sun or to a friend’s wedding.
Ashley Cut Out Sides Skater Dress £15.00 on Boohoo.com – A simple skater dress is a wardrobe essential if you don’t already have one and at £15, there’s no excuse not to buy one. They seem to have the length of this dress just right; short enough to be teamed up with black wedges and a black clutch for a night out yet long enough to wear with flats in the day time without a fear of flashing. I love the choice of colours this comes in; Mint, Stone, Rose Pink, Peach or Marine depending on what pastel shade you think suits you best. The cut out sides don’t reveal too much (in my case a tattoo) but if you didn’t feel like bearing your sides a simple cardigan would cover them.
